ALPFA Internship (UNPAID) Description

Internship Title: Membership Intern

ALPFA is the Association of Latino Professionals for America founded in 1972 to represent Latino accounting and finance professionals. Today ALPFA represents all professions and serves 23,000 Latino students and professionals through its 43 professional and 135 student chapters across the country. As the leading organization dedicated to empowering and developing Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation, ALPFA manages programs that facilitate professional development, networking and employment opportunities in every sector of the global economy.

Hours: 12 Hours per week. Hours are flexible. Intern will report to the New York office (except for intern based outside NYC/Metro area)

Reports to: Vice President, Member Engagement & Special Events

Summary:  

Gain office experience handling day-to-day activities in support of the Membership Department, with particular focus on management of membership database. A great opportunity for exposure to strategic planning, project and database management and understanding of member relations for a national nonprofit organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Interact with chapter volunteers, membership base and staff in a fast paced environment and tight deadlines. Remaining organized, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism is crucial.

Job Functions:

  • Process new membership applications
  • Confirm existing membership data as requested
  • Update/complete member profiles to ensure clean membership data maintained
  • Produce membership reports and when appropriate analyze data for forecasting purposes
  • Troubleshoot online membership registration and serve as help-desk for membership inquiries
  • Assist with creation of membership promo codes
  • Opportunities to work with staff, chapter leaders and others on special projects

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate or Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Experience with relational databases a plus

Other Skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish welcomed (not required)

Education / Experience:

  • Open to Undergraduate (Sophomores-Senior) or Graduate Students
